The seventh-grade boys basketball A-team showcased remarkable skill and resilience in a recent tournament, facing formidable opponents from start to finish. The event kicked off with an impressive display of dominance as they secured a commanding 37–3 victory over Todd Middle School, propelling them into a challenging matchup against Edcouch-Elsa. Despite a valiant effort, the team narrowly missed victory, concluding the game with a 26–19 loss.

Undeterred by the setback, the boys rallied with determination, achieving a solid 28–10 win against Cuellar Middle School. This victory earned them a spot in the third-place game against B-Garza Middle School. The final match was a nail-biter, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. In the crucial final minute, Venustiano Medrano and Jayden Gonzalez delivered under pressure, sinking critical free throws to clinch a thrilling 23–20 triumph.

The team’s remarkable performance secured them the third-place trophy, a testament to their teamwork, heart, and determination. The entire community is proud of these young athletes for their outstanding efforts.

In parallel, the seventh-grade boys basketball B-team also demonstrated commendable prowess in the tournament over the weekend. Their journey began on Thursday with a strong 16-4 win against Todd Middle School. Building on their momentum, they played against Edcouch Elsa in their second game on Friday. Despite not securing a victory, they used the defeat as motivation to return stronger and prepared to win on Saturday.

Saturday's games brought further success as the team triumphed over Weslaco Cuellar and Mercedes Chacon. The victory over Chacon, with a score of 12-14, secured their third-place finish in the tournament. The standout players included lead scorer Itan Gonzalez, followed closely by Jesus Camacho and Jerry Garcia. Congratulations to the Braves for their impressive performance!
